I know we’re approaching Halloween, but do community managers have to act like people running from Jason or Leatherface? You know that scene in the horror movie where victims run into the forest and scream and scream for help and the monster just says “scream all you want, no one can hear you“.
I feel that’s the new strategy from some social media community managers. They are now just pushing out dozens upon dozens of tweets and Facebook updates per day just hoping, just praying that someone, just maybe someone, will hear their futile screams and respond.
That’s not community management. That’s desperation. And desperation isn’t a social media strategy that works.
