When is an advertisement not an advertisement? When it drives us to such emotional peaks that we forget we’re watching a commercial for a product.
I’m not sure I’ve seen an ad that has compelled viewership, by such a diverse audience, as this “First Kiss” video by L.A. fashion label Wren.
Here’s the premise. Wren puts 20 complete strangers together who have never met before and they have them greet each other and kiss on the spot.
And no,…we’re not talking the “peck on the cheek” variety. These 10 couples go at it like they’ve known each other for quite some time.
As of the writing of this article, the video has been watched over 23 million times! It’s beautiful and touching but couldn’t have cost that much to produce.
Knowing that, I think…no, I know that you have to conclude that this piece was a huge success.
By the way, before you hit play, be forewarned that the video is quite provocative.
Now you know a video is a hit when it begins to be parodied. I have to give Snog Frozen Yogurt a two-thumbs up for jumping all over this and driving a real-time marketing campaign.
They news-jacked this quite nicely. Kudos on their #FirstSnog play.
